On 14 October 2017r. (Saturday), the XXXIX Solemn Session of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Assembly took place at the Trzebnica Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre. During this ceremony, from the hands of the Chairman of the Sejmik - Paweł Wróblewski and the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship - Cezary Przybylski, the owner of the Ciechanowice Palace, Mr Andrzej Meller, received the silver badge of honour "Merited for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship". In addition to this award, the title of Honorary Citizen of Lower Silesia - Saint Jadwiga of Silesia - was conferred and the Lower Silesian Cultural Award "Silesia" was presented, along with the Marshal's awards "For special achievements for the region" to other laureates. Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodship Iwona Krawczyk - the initiator of the badge of honour - also attended the ceremonial session.
The owner of the building was awarded the badge for his many years of financial and material involvement in saving the cultural heritage of Lower Silesia, which is the historic palace and park complex "Ciechanowice Palace", with its priceless polychrome walls and ceilings, whose artistic value is comparable to that of the Wawel frescoes. It is one of the most beautiful and valuable secular buildings in Lower Silesia.
In addition, Andrzej Meller's cultural and artistic sensitivity is also directed towards sacred buildings. He used his own funds to carry out comprehensive drainage and irrigation works at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Wieściszowice. On the other hand, drainage work was carried out at St Augustine's Church in Ciechanowice, including the construction of a parish car park. Thanks to Mr Andrzej's empathy and financial support, pupils from poor families at the Marciszów Public School Complex can enjoy holidays and school trips.
His great passion in life is sailing, which is why he selflessly supports the Lower Silesian Sailing Club Association "Horyzont" from Jelenia Góra financially.
For years, it has funded the Mother's Day organised by the Parish of Our Lady of Mercy in Cieplice - Jelenia Góra.
